The year 2017 MOBO Awards went down last night and it was indeed a night of great performances as Nigerian singer and superstar Davido took the stage to entertain the audience with a performance of his hit songs. The Federal Government has declared Friday as a public holiday to mark the Eid-El-Maulud celebration. Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau made the declaration on Wednesday in a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Abubakar Magaji. He admonished all Muslim faithful and Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace, progress and unity of the nation. “The minister wishes Nigerians a happy Eid-El- Maulud celebration,” the statement said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N164.7 million for the payment of second semester school fees of the freed 106 Chibok girls at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) , Yola, Adamawa. The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu , made this known in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday. The presidential aide said that the President had expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far in the rehabilitation of the freed Chibok schoolgirls. According to him, Buhari expressed his feelings while reviewing progress report on the affected girls. He said that the report was submitted to the President in line with his commitment to personally monitor the rehabilitation and reintegration into society of the freed Chibok girls. The Federal Government has informed the House of Representatives of plans to sell the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), National Arts Theatre, and some power plants, The Nation reports. The national assets are reportedly part of several others the Federal Government plans to privatize to generate revenue to finance the country’s budgets for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020.
