The Six Flags Over Texas amusement park in Arlington, Texas has changed all of its flags to American flags, following backlash over the park’s inclusion of the Confederate flag at the entrance to its park. Before Friday, the American flag was joined by flags for the Confederate States of America, Mexico, Spain, France and Texas. Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority has disclosed that bleaching creams have been banned from entering the country, since January this year. This was revealed when Agency's Chief Executive Officer appeared before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, to assist in queries leveled against them by the Auditor General on Public Accounts of Ghana for the year 2015. Speaking at the sitting of the Committee, Chief Executive Officer of FDA Delese Mimi Darko stated that the bleaching agent in creams, hydroquinone, has been banned from imported cream products. She told the Committee that FDA has taken that standard and implementing it fully. She confirmed that since January, 2017, no product is registered with hydroquinone in it. Ms Darko noted that FDA has had meetings with all the importers of creams and has told them what the new standard is and the fact that it is already in force. The #ResumeorResign protesters are set to protest outside President Muhammadu Buhari London residence, popularly called the Abuja House, from Friday to Saturday, August 19. The protesters claimed to have received a permit and safety barriers from the UK police to conduct their protest. The protest will reportedly hold all night long and protesters are advised to dress warm as they sit all night outside the president's residence demanding that he resume office or resign immediately.

The fast rising artist was said to have been declined despite having a US visa/work permit on his passport. 

A 12-year-old boy in Uttar Pradesh in India, has a mysterious condition that has caused his hands to grow to a massive 30cm long. Tarik was born with big hands but now they are so huge that local villagers believe he is cursed and call him "devil." He has also been refused admission to schools due to fear that he will scare other children. His father passed away and his family is unable to afford money to have him tested. His condition is undiagnosed, although doctors speculate that it may be Elephant Foot disease.

Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. The Federal Government is considering the establishment of a National Guard to professionally address emerging security threats and emergencies in the country. The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja‎ when the Adjutant General of the California National Guard, U.S paid him a courtesy visit. ‎ The National Guard is a security outfit established to tackle national security threats and emergencies like it’s obtained in the U.S‎. ‎ The minister, however, stressed that a lot of consultations would be done with all stakeholders before any decision is taken in that regard. He recalled that several years ago‎, the government had planned the establishment of a National Guard, but the idea did not come to fruition due to a number of challenges. A 35-year-old housewife, Mariya Inusa, of Rafin-Makadi village in Rimi Local government area of Katsina has reported her husband, Inusa Aliyu, to the police on allegations her husband has been having sexual intercourse with the couple’s 14-year-old daughter. Mariya uncovered the illicit liaison when she caught her husband one night, and then involve the police. She told police she had suspected for long her husband having sexual realtions with their daughter. The night she caught them together only confirmed her suspicion. She later confronted their daughter, who confessed she had been having sex with her father, Mariya explained. Police later arrested Aliyu and put him in detention, according to Katsina state police spokesman DSP Gambo Isah. A Belvedere fraudster who laundered almost a million pounds in a year will spend more than six years behind bars. Babatunde Adu aka TmoneyAdu or Alagapromoter was found to have a number of credit cards and fraudulent documents at his home during a police raid in October last year. The raid was part of a week-long initiative to tackle card fraud, after intelligence suggested he had been using compromised cards to buy electronic goods with a value of up to £15,000 to sell on. Police research revealed the 38-year-old owner of Bigfoot Records & Entz, had a bank account which had been used in 2014 to receive £50,000 from a romance fraud. Further analysis revealed a £900,000 turnover in a bank account the previous year. A Federal High Court in Lagos will on August 29 deliver judgment in the N300 million fundamental human rights suit filed by the alleged infamous kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike a.k.a Evans. Onwuamadike had filed the suit seeking N300 million compensation and challenging his continued detention by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, since June 10. Joined in the suit are the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Police Commissioner and the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) At Wednesday’s proceedings, Henry Obiazi, counsel to the IGP and the Police, told the court that the case involved murder, armed robbery and kidnapping which are all capital offences.
