The Vampire Diaries recap for Season 8
Episode 3 , which was directed by Michael
Karasick and co-written by Chad Fiveash
& James Stoteraux. This post contains
spoilers, quotes, and specific scene
descriptions about the show’s final
season premiere; please do not read any
further until you have watched “You
Decided that I Was Worth Saving ” which
aired on The CW on Friday, November 4,
2016.
Previously on The Vampire Diaries : In an
attempt to conceal his love for Bonnie,
Enzo resorted to drastic measures and
pretended that Sarah Nelson meant more
to him than does. Thinking she had finally
narrowed in on Enzo’s weakness, Sybil
sent her henchmen to murder the poor girl
— thus causing Caroline, Bonnie, and
Stefan to rush to North Caroline to
protect the Salvatores’ last living
descendant. Unfortunately, though, even
after the gang found her just in time and
Stefan managed to appeal to Damon’s
humanity, Sybil showed up at the eleventh
hour and stabbed her. Heck, not only that
but the evil siren decided to inject herself
into Damon’s blissful memories about
Elena and basically destroy his one refuge
in this cruel world.
Elsewhere, Alaric’s bubbly intern Georgie
freaked out over a strange symbol. What
was it, exactly? Oh you know, just the
mark of eternal damnation. After calming
down, Georgie revealed that after a
drunken car crash, in which she drove
under the influence and ended up killing
her best friend, she briefly forayed into a
cold, lonely place that could only be
defined as hell. She tearfully filled Ric in
on all the chilling details, including how
all she kept seeing was this strange sign;
once she regained consciousness, she
was charged with vehicular manslaughter,
spent her entire jail sentence researching
everything there is to know about the
fiery basement below, and even got a
tattoo of the symbol. Later on, when
Alaric returns home to Seline the Hot
Nanny and his twin daughters, he receives
an important call from Georgie who
informs him that she stumbled upon a
very old weapon emblazoned with the
mark of hell.
As for the end of the episode? The bad
news: After using her wicked wiles to
exert full control over Damon, Sybil
convinced the eldest Salvatore to let
Sarah die as a temporarily paralyzed
Stefan watched on in horror. She also
found out about Bon Bon and Enzo’s
passionate reunion that had occurred
earlier that day and decided to make our
beloved witch her next target. The good
news: Bonnie got truthful about how
lonely and hopeless she’s been feeling
these past few months, and upset with
herself for neglecting her friend’s pain,
Caroline wrapped her into a warm hug
and promised her that they will save
Enzo, together. Oh, and in case that
wasn’t enough to melt your heart, Stefan
renovated a room at the Salvatore
boarding house for Caroline’s kid, Josie
and Lizzie, and then proposed to her.
“You are my family now,” he told her
during the sweet scene. Aw!
