measure how popular a person is as some footballers boasts of far more
followers than their club.
With 55million followers, Cristiano
Ronaldo is the footballer with the highest number of followers on Twitter while
his team Real Madrid is the club with the highest number of followers as they
have 24.6million followers.
It sometimes occurs that some fans
are more interested in specific players and following them over the official
club accounts.
1. Wayne Rooney - Everton
The England striker moved from
Manchester United to his boyhood club Everton. The 32-year-old can boast of
15million followers while his club side have gathered just over a million
followers on Twitter.
2. Javier Hanandez - West Ham
The former Manchester United striker
recently made a switch to Premier League side West Ham from Bayern Leverkusen.

while his current club can only boast of 1.2million followers on Twitter.

The Brazilian ace made a switch from
Chelsea to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG in the 2017 January transfer window
following the arrival of Antonio Conte to Stamford Bridge.It is understood
that Oscar has around 4million followers on Twitter while his club do not even
have an official Twitter account.
6. Sergio Aguero - Man City
The Argentine striker is Manchester
City all-time highest goal scorer in the Premier League. The former Atletico
Madrid forward has 11.7million followers while his club has just 4.5million
followers.
7. David Villa - New York City
The Spaniard moved to America to
join New York City FC in 2014 from Atletico Madrid. While Villa has 8million
followers on Twitter, New York City have not been able to muster even 350k on
the social media platform.
